USC is famous for its diverse student community, superb location, comprehensive academic work, extracurricular activities, luxury amenities, powerful connections, exciting student socials, events, amongst others.

Another important feature of USC is the variety of dining options from dining halls, cafés to restaurants; there is something for everyone.

The joints and cool spots in this guide are close to campus, allowing students to grab a nice meal with friends or family when they are in town.

Here is a list of the top spots to eat near USC.


La Barca:

  • Location: South LA.
  • Meals: Lunch and Dinner.

La Barca is a popular spot among USC students, best known for offering yummy Mexican and Latin cuisines. In addition to a vegetarian-friendly diet and excellent Margaritas. Located in downtown Los Angeles, it may not look like much from the outside, but step inside and receive a rich dose of delicious meals.


Bacaro, West Adams:

  • Location: USC/Exposition Park.
  • Meals: Lunch and Dinner.

Bacaro is also another popular joint among the USC academic and surrounding community from students, professors to the residents. This wine, bar, and restaurant has a price range of $15 to $20 and offers yummy meals along with Sangrias plus a variety of exquisite Italian wines.


Jacks N Joe

  • Location: South LA.
  • Meals: Breakfast and Brunch

Jacks N Joe located in South LA, offers breakfast and brunch meals with vegetarian-friendly and Gluten-Free Options. Due to its popularity, there are usually long queues, especially during the weekends. But it's worth the wait for an affordable and yummy plate of early or late morning comfort food.


Chichen Itza Restaurant:

  • Location: South Los Angeles.
  • Cuisines: Mexican, Latin, and Spanish.
  • Price Range: $5 to $10.

Chichen Itza Is an off campus restaurant within a walkable distance, located east of USC inside Mercado La Paloma, a diverse shopping center. This restaurant is well known for its signature dish- Cochinita Pibil, which is pork shoulder, marinated and braised in lime, orange juice, and achiote paste. This is a sure bet to satisfy any craving you might have for Mexican, Latin, or Spanish food.


Caveman Kitchen:

  • Location: Downtown Los Angeles
  • Cuisines: American, Caribbean, Cuban.

Caveman Kitchen is a casual American, Caribbean, a Cuban restaurant that offers lunch and dinner. This space is packed with USC students and police officers who indulge in rotisserie chicken, burgers, and lomo saltado. The mouthwatering meals and superb customer service is bound to make you a regular visitor.


Mckays Restaurant:

  • Location: Radisson Hotel, South Los Angeles Midtown, at the University of Southern California.
  • Cuisines: American
  • Price Range: $30 to $45
  • Meals: Lunch, Dinner, Late Night

Mckay's restaurant named after USC football coach John McKay is located across from the USC campus and very convenient for individuals staying at the Radisson Hotel. Mckay's offers contemporary American cuisines on their menu and cater for both lunch, dinner and late-night meals.
